Bigger
You’re bigger than me
You’ll always be bigger
So significant
to me you are
There were 3
And then there were 4
That we heard about all our existence
And finally met
Watched our bodies grow bigger and bigger
Our beings created
Coming into ourselves now
Watched our mistakes grow fewer and fewer
instead
And I think we’re growing up now
Clock toys that sing to us
Stuffed dogs
That aren’t really stuffed
at all
learning sarcasm was a funny fellow
and very good friend
Soccer in the yard
You were my heroes
So big
So cool
Seemed you knew
Everything
Little did I know
I’d be as big as you
And when I was
knew nothing
Followed you everywhere
Had no where else to go
Than behind you
You left
To the high sea
Couldn’t follow
Stayed at the pond
Vessel will find its journey
I felt
Yes it will
Always onto the next thing
Dreaming for improvement
But there’s a magnificence
To a childhood moment
You never get back
And don’t miss
til you don’t have
Now
Still just that little girl
And you’re still bigger
You’ll always be bigger
But the gap is getting smaller
Shared our 20s all together
for a short time
As we will our 30s 40s
Isn’t everyone still just a kid?
There were 4
And then I came along
There were 5
And then there were 4 again.
License plates change
Rings exchanged
Ashes buried
Grief carried
Forgiveness given
Fights every now and then
Laugh about our parents
Call em crazy cuz we understand
While secretly thinking the others are like them
But respect is what they deserve
cuz they are bigger
I love you
You are bigger
You will always be bigger
