Bigfoot the Legend
I once spent the winter
Near the town willow creek.
It wasn't adventure
I attempted to seek.
The cabin elevation
Was 5000 foot.
My goal that winter
Was to finish writing my book.
The first winter snow
Had covered the ground.
So I went outside
Just to wander around.
The days were short,
The nights were long.
It was just about dusk,
I was humming a song.
It looked like a shadow,
But it's eyes seem to glow.
For more than a minute
We both kinda froze.
It stared at me
And I at it.
To tell you the truth
I was really nervous a bit.
One thing for sure,
It wasn't a bear.
It stood 8 feet tall
And was covered with hair.
It then turned around
And started running away.
I'll never forget
What happened that day.
I ran back to the cabin
And locked the door.
I was feeling so weak
I collapsed on the floor.
My head started spinning,
What did I see?
Creature or beast,
What was spying on me?
No electricity,
There wasn't a phone.
I was high in the mountain
And no longer alone.
What do I do?
There's no one to call.
I felt trapped in the cabin
With my back to the wall.
The sun had gone down,
It was eerily dark.
Inside my head
I was blowing apart.
Will it return?
Might it come back?
If I go outside
Will I be attacked?
Half the night later
I got back on my feet.
Thought to myself
This could actually be neat.
I threw a log
In the pot belly stove.
I brewed a cup
Of orange cinnamon clove.
I tried to relax
In a chair made of wicker.
For the next several hours
I watched the candle flame flicker.
I started a book
But I finished another,
Because I asked myself
Does this thing have a mother
Then I asked myself,
Should I or not?
And yes, I did,
Go back to the spot.
The sun came up
And I made my way.
It turned out to be
A remarkable day.
It was a beautiful morning,
The air was chilled.
For some strange reason
I seemed to be thrilled.
I stood and marveled
The magnificent pines.
Ambrosial fragrance
Titillated my mind.
After that moment,
I started looking around.
I was really surprised
With what I had found.
I found footprints,
Twice that of mine.
Completely dumbfounded,
It nearly boggled my mind
I follow the tracks
And then they just disappeared.
Without rhyme or reason.
It just really seemed weird.
Now I'm just baffled,
Don't know what to say.
I smiled and giggled
The rest of the day.
Winter came
And snowed me in.
I finished "a" book
From beginning to end.
Not the same topic
Like I first started out.
Bigfoot the legend
Is what it's about
