Big City Life
I entered the city scared and unsure,
with no money nor prospects of a job.
And drifting with the city's human tide,
I was acting cocky and immature.
I felt homesick: and aching for the cure,
entrenched myself into big city life.
But forming friendships was no easy task
my trust in people was oft premature.
The night's neon lights flaunted their allure,
but reality soon burst that bubble.
For the cost of being young and naïve,
levies a price youth's obliged to endure.
Eating whatever food I could procure
necessity taught me to beg and steal,
while assuring me, my motives were pure.
