Big City Life
I went to the city scared and unsure,
with no money or prospects of a job.
And drifting with the city's human tide,
I start acting cocky and immature.
I felt homesick and aching for the cure
I threw myself into big city life.
But forming friendships was no easy task;
my trust in people was oft premature.
The Night's neon lights flaunted their allure;
but reality soon burst that bubble.
For the cost of being young and naïve,
levies a price; youth silently endure.
Eating whatever food I could procure,
necessity taught me to beg and steal;
while assuring me my motives were pure.
