They fly around our streets in packs We see them lurking almost every day Don’t misjudge them in time or place Or there will be more than hell to pay Their beady eyes don’t miss a trick Yellow jackets hover like pesky flies One minute late and they will sting The fine will be paid in painful cries Arrive at your car in plenty of time Don’t get there with a second to spare Your car is marked, and they will swoop Those yellow jackets make people swear! Inspired after seeing two parking wardens in our village today. (In the UK the traffic wardens wear black and yellow jackets) 08-31-17

Great comparison, Jan!! A bit like tax collectors - nobody likes them but, at the end of the day, they're just people doing a job!! All the best, John.

Ha Jan! You made me laugh, and Russell laughed til it hurt, that's ok, he needed the laugh. We just had supper, yuck, hospital food can be so gross. Anyway Russell wanted me to write for him, "This is a very funny write Jan. I really enjoyed hearing it read to me today. You got me, I did think it was about the yellow jackets that sting, the bugs that is. Those parking wardens probably sting too. You have delighted me tonight with this incredible piece, thank you for the laugh my friend" Emma :)

Thanks so much for dropping by Emma and Russell I'm glad I made you both smile and I do like to have a twist to my poems from time to time. Yo are doing a wonderful job keeping his spirits up and I send my best wishes to you both. When my hubby had his cancer surgery he thought the food was pretty good ... it was a change to my cooking lol:-) I think Russell's next poem should be about hospital food!:-) hugs jan xx

That is sad indeed Sara, we only have 2 real area's in the village for them to patrol but they do seem to swoop on those who have forgotten to put in their parking discs in our disc zone:-( hugs jan xx

Nice play with the title, Jan. Ours don't wear yellow jackets, but are vigilant as well. I love how you get inspired by these everyday things to write entertaining poems.

Thanks Agnes:-):-) I get so much inspiration from things around me and try and make the poems humourous if I can. It's the first time I've seen 2 wardens walking together in our village especially as it is only a very small area to cover :-) hugs jan xx

I've just discovered that the traffic warden's don't wear yellow and black in other countries - green hornets suits them well!:-) hugs jan xx

Nasty things when they attack, especially if they're as monstrous in size as the one in your cartoon! Hornets are terrible, too. Thanks for a morning smile, Jan.

Thanks so much for all your support Lin. I was inspired by seeing 2 parking wardens with their black and yellow jackets so i likened them to wasps coming to sting you lol:-) hugs jan xx

Hi Jan, loved this one. By the title i thought you were talking of Bees. Those pesky traffic wardens. A quick run into a shop, out, a ticket, where do they spring from. It's like, "Beam me down Scotty. I am glad i stopped by this one. We shall always err on caution. Where i come from, they shall just pick out some cars in the line. Every one is guilty, they are all on the double lines. Forget bees, this lot are more scary. Excellent, loved this one Jan. A fave. Hugs....Mike. XX

Cheers Mike I deliberately put the picture up to confuse folks about the meaning of the poem. Hubby and i were just walking to see mum and 2 traffic wardens were walking along the road... it must be safety in numbers in case someone lashes out at them and tries to swat one away! :-) hugs jan xx
