Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea

Like sheep on a steep rocky slope,
We need to have guidance to cope.
We might fall and slide down
To the sea and all drown.
Heed the Shepherd. He’s our only hope.

Andrea Such a powerful and deep write. You portrayed the point of this poem in a clever and unique way. Gives the reader things to think about. Thanks for the great comment on my Give And Take Love poem.

i usually don't like the short poems. i think of them as cheap trailers to b-rated movies, but this one is short and sweet this was powerful and on point

congrats on this excellent Limerick! about Breakdown - so sorry for your husband, but thank goodness for meds and glad he is doing well now. my poem was originally an ekphrasis to Jackson Pollack's Orange Head painting. don't get me wrong - you need to have a sense of the stress, and I feel I've come close at certain times in my life, there is no doubt. I love to dig deep and write on the darker side - a great outlet. thanks Andrea once again. xoxo

Good interpretation of the photo, Andrea. Heaven help us if we all slide down the slope and drown. There were many awesome entries. Congratulations on your success in the contest. Love, Carolyn

Damn it, Andrea, you just said free verse was not your bag, and here you go complementing me. I know what you mean. This is the style I work in best. Hey! Try writing this one out in free verse. You might surprise yourself. Love, Dave

you know, this is sad..but true how badly we would fall without this sheep, and don't realize it.lol by the way, you might be surprised, the only times i really go out are when im with my bf, and thats often, but still.other than that i don't go out as much..its like i wont allow myself to....after that, all i can do is write, and i cant stop.. ~Always&Forever Lynette

Excellent Limerick depicting that photo, Andrea! No need to wish you good luck with this...already a winner, definitely! RE: "Stolen Moments" no, it's not "someone" that's preventing me, but mainly studying-and weddings, etc. All distractions to me! Love, Audrey

Excellent faith Limerick...If we would all be grounded in a relationship with God and found the principles laid down by Jesus all the world would be a better place..Let your inspiration overflow onto the keyboard and bless us with your gift..Sara
