Between Ariel and Me
I often think of myself as being a mermaid
For I am indeed none other than love's maid
I guess my name should have been Ariel
Of all the mystical creatures, I am the only belle!
A knight passed me by
He showed me a colorful sky
And left me panting for more
With wounds on my heart, so sore!
Like Ariel, I was once ready to die for love
Like Ariel, I still do not know of what I am made of
Like Ariel, I am now but abandoned to my own fate
Like Ariel, I have never been seen by mine own mate
A mermaid is none other than an object of beauty
Being not understood is indeed life's cruelty
Mysterious and mystical
Her end can only be ironical
Deep down in my heart,
I still keep a fanciful wish
I do still yearn for the past
It is gone, yet, that past I do still cherish!
The pain of dying for the sake of love unfulfilled
Why, only a creature of the sea could so feel
A mermaid, Ariel, or myself, a being of mystery
In pain, always here to make the world, turn so dreamy!
