Betrayal: a Lover's Masquerade
I liked you at first glance,
and hoped and prayed you'd feel the same,
I dreamed of our romance -
although I only knew your name.
I wondered what you'd think,
and shyly offered you a drink;
you nodded with a wink -
the start of something big, I knew.
My heart sincere and true,
I quickly fell in love with you.
Alas, I took a chance,
to find for you it was a game -
heartbroken, at the brink,
I cried; but you maintained, 'We're through.'
