Betrayal

You pressed me into euphoria
so my imprint scarred the sheets;
and love dew ran a cooling tear
along the silken thigh.

Smiles I thought would never wane
played rapture on my lips;
and I had faith in love's prevail,
never once to die.

You broke the spell with cold deceit,
smashed the ardent dream;
and made the future branding irons
that cauterised my bliss.

Joy I thought would never end
fell poisoned and destroyed;
your mouth dispensed betrayal
with a toxic serpent kiss...
