Betrayal
In shadows cast by promises, they stood,
A pact of hearts, in solidarity, they would.
With whispered vows, they faced the black,
Together they'd journey, never looking back.
Through trials and tribulations, they did endure,
Their friendship, a beacon, unwavering and pure.
Yet, as the candle of trust began to fade,
The distance between them, like a barricade.
Conversations turned scarce, the silence loud,
Doubt and suspicion, like a dark, foreboding cloud.
Their worst fears creeping, a somber night,
As they watched their once-close bond take flight.
They saw their backs, retreating in despair,
A cruel twist of fate, a pain too much to bear.
For some, the face that lurked behind the knife,
Was a friend turned foe, causing endless strife
