Because of You
Memory slips away
In that strange forgetfulness
Only faint pictures float
In my distant horizon
And when I try to find
Only tinctures blindly tell
Odd that I should know this
Sad glimpses of old times gone
Each stray thought brings odd hints
Only fragments that taunt me
Mind in a myriad fling
Heart roped to broken fragments
Knowing in my old heart
Romance of times lost in mists
Yet still clutching old times
To old memories once wild
Can it be just because
Life in oak casts mellow fine
Just like that old China
Porcelain where cracked ripples show
Vintage of an odd time
Where sunlit seaside trysts meet
Yes the perfumed garden
Where delight lodged mystery
And there for the first time
Fate decreed our love affair
Now age and ageing grips
On the verge of a new trip
Come my darling dearest
Here we can go home with glee
