Beautiful Scars

She sometimes hears him moaning in his sleep, and if he wakens, often he shows shame to have his woman hear him softly weep, “I should have died instead, for I’m to blame.” He coughs (from scars inside him). His wife aches To know her husband carries in his heart a pain as deep as that large scar that makes folks stare at him! Oh, guilt and pain depart! - She screams inside her brain, but they do not. She cradles him, this great big brawny guy, a hero fireman who so bravely fought as ashes filled a blue September sky. Oh, how she wishes she could make him see how beautiful, with scars and all, is he!

Just now found this truly wonderful sonnet my friend! I've never seen a sonnet in this form ,with two five verse ending stanza's like that but nothing could take away from this piece as its message, flow, rhyme and heart excels that much . Definitely a super 10 in my book.

Ahh!! Sad one..That would be hard on a person and on their loved ones as well..Heroes don't nessarily come away unscathed all times..Enjoyed your work must be a contest entry for I have seen several sonnets around..Thanks for stopping by..The skunk is spraying somewhere around and it has been happening for a good long while with maybe a few months inbetween the spraying but this morning it must have sprayed about time the Heat Pump can on and it got all in my house..It is better now..Sara

An aptly timed poem for me to read. The lady who was teaching me to take x-rays last week, her fields burnt during our first day. A day in which another part of my state burnt on a deadly front. My teacher's crops burnt, as did many of her fences. But not her home, stock, or family. Thanks to many brave firefighters. Interesting form of Sonnet too.

Such crust! This south side of a jackass going north has belittled one of my favorite poets. Give me his name and he's dog food. Funning too. LOve, daver
