Beautiful Chrome Heart

Daniel Henry Rodgers

"Two wheels move the body; the spirit soars free. In the rush of wind, we find both meditation and liberation. As rider and machine become one, the road transforms into a canvas for life's greatest stories."  - Poet

======================================

Midnight rides—his pulse aligns with the thunder beneath him fingers tracing her curves polishing fire into steel. Wind against his skin she sings beneath him once more Saturday mornings spent bathing her shine in devotion One last glance—wait for me—before stepping inside his grip firm not on the world but the rhythm of her frame. The highway fades yet she alone knows the way home rain or shine she waits unwavering at his door Twilight drapes them in gold two shadows stretching as one beautiful chrome heart racing—her name dissolving into the wind.

Hello Richard, Thank You! Were or are you a motorcycle rider? Spring Blessings, My Friend, Daniel

Such a moving intro! Entered my world, did you? All my husband breathes in and out is motorcycle-thrilled air. Motorcycle zoom-zoom sounds are on his phone nightly. I must show this poem to him, he isn't a writer, but he loves one and enjoys her poems. Since my writes aren't about bikes, I know he'll like this. As always, your writing skills lift me. I'm curious, how did it happen that so many people comment on your poems? Hugs ... CayCay

Dear CayCay, thank you for your amazing comments and they always lift my spirit. I am interested in what type of bikes your husband had. I had a Kawasaki KZ 1000, a Harley 1200, and a Yamaha Fj1100. Now I ride a Honda 250 Elite Scooter (Which is funny). My advice for getting more readers is to read more poems and leave comments regularly. There are many excellent poets here, including you. I hope that helps. Spring Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

Daniel, your poem reflects an attachment and love for your machine. It is amazing how good it feels to ride. I had a Vespa 150 in high school and used to ride to ride it in the fall, spring, and summer. Had to add oil to the gas. Still have an MC endorsement on my drivers license. We have to be extremely careful riding, and I consider myself fortunate to have never been hurt riding. Are you still riding much? I know some ride in groups and it's all fun!!!

Hello Duke, It is funny because I rode some very large bikes including Kawasaki KZ 1000, Harley 1200, and a Yamaha FJ1100. Then I ended up getting a Honda 250 Elite scooter and to this day I still have it. It tops out at about 70 mph and gets about 70 miles to the gallon. I would never drive it across country but within 100-150 miles, it is great. Thanks as always!! Spring Blessings, My Friend, Daniel

Love this. I always felt fantastic in my sports cars. I have had several Mustangs and a few Mitsubishi Spyders. When I got a kia forte, it was dependable but just too plain. So for ten years I drove a car not really enjoying it. What we drive really defined us I think. Looks like you love the freedom of motorcycle. My hubbie had some but finally gave them up because of his age. Today he is disabled but refuses to sell his truck or jeep even though I have to drive him everywhere. Go figure!

Dear Andrea, your note made me smile and think about how our vehicles do shape us in ways we often don't realize. I love how you connected with the poem and shared such a personal story. It's amazing how we hold onto the things that define us, even when life changes. I had a 1970 Chevelle SS that was my prize. Now I drive a Hondar CRV. :) Thank you! Spring Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

I'll fave this poem of yours dear poet sir. I love your quote too. Thanks a lot for sharing. God bless you and your poetry. Hugs

Some are so crazy about motorbikes. My husband had such a passion. I used to enjoy the bike rides with him soon after our marriage. But a year after our marriage, we met with an accident. A little boy came running into our path. To save the boy, he applied the brake and I fell off, my hands still holding onto the bike. Without knowing it, he dragged me awhile and I was full of bruises. With that, he stopped riding the motor bike. This is such a beautiful personification. Initially I too thought it was a romantic poem, but now after reading, I realize that it is romance of a different kind. Dear Daniel, you have a Mida's touch. What ever you touch turn into gold.

Dear Valsa, Thank you and your story touched me deeply, and I’m so glad my poem could speak to you in such a way. I too have been in several severe motorcycle accidents. It sort of goes with the territory. The love and sacrifice you’ve experienced shine through your words. And as for me, your kindness always inspires me to create more. Spring Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

Dear daniel, this is such a well written poem, and i thought for a minute it was a romantic poem and then read again and realised what your poem is about, i love the cadence and creative nature of your word weaving! Beautiful artwork too youv used here for the poem which is so fitting! I especially love “ rhythm of frame” “ her curves polishing fire into steel.” and the ending is brilliant! I used to be ok with being on a motorbike but now i get a bit nervous on them! I love the poetic rhythm of your poem and for that i must say this is another one of my faves from you! Pleasure reading your poem today…Sending you light always

Dear Joanna, Wow, your dad had a diesel bullet. Was it a Royal Enfield? It would be worth a fortune today. If I had one, I would never sell it. At that time it got about 172 miles to the gallon but only went to a top speed of 55 mph. I am impressed!! Thank you for coming and sharing your wonderful thoughts. Spring Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

Dear Daniel, I adore the title and the motorcycle portrait painted. Your tender, sensuous poetic expression brings both the rider and the “thunder beneath him” to vivid life. A beautiful and visceral piece.. I could hear her “sing”, see her “shine”, feel the wind against my “skin” and the vibrations to my core. A brilliant sensory feast! That opening line was pure gold!! Captivating from the start. Warmest wishes my dear poet friend.. ~Susan

I was always afraid of riding on my husbands bike when we first started going out together. However, when a man loves his bike, there is no remedy. Your breath taking description of these two shadows, rider and bike sliding along the highway, as if they are one, is magnetic. LOVED IT! Blessings, Jennifer.

Dear Jennifer, It is funny reading your note because when I met my wife, I was riding a Harley Davidson 1200. She had never been on a motorcycle nor would her parents have ever allowed it. Once I got her on the bike, I had to teach her how to lean into curves and not away from curves, which was her natural tendency. Thank you so much for coming and taking a virtual ride on the motorcycle. Spring Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

The excitement and the freedom you have captured in this Ride on a Motorcycle. What the rider experiences you have captured with your words Dear friend. One must get on a bike and feel the freedom from riding and experiencing the control, the air, the power, the oneness with the bike. Your words send us this inspiring feel Daniel. You put us there. Love this Poetry from you my friend. You put me there on the bike experiencing acceleration and rush like never before. This one is a favorite.

I think you hear the road calling, Daniel. You show us a great love and care for her, just the road and both you and the bike as one, only a few will understand "Zen and the art of motorcycle mechanics" comes to mind. What could be more heavenly, the breeze kissing, the sun shining, the vroom sound of the pipes. You took me away with a sweet and sexy poem. Enjoyed! ~

Hello Joe, I appreciate your faith in grant funding, LOLO! Although I think poetry might be an even riskier gamble than politics! As for melding with the machine, maybe the real art is in the friction, not the fusion. Winter Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

I've never been a motorcycle guy but I've known plenty. Your photo choice pretty much says it all, along with your excellent poem. For those that love the freedom of a mountain road or country lane there's nothing like it, eh?

Good Morning, Tom, Thank you for stopping by and joining my journey. In high school, I always wanted a motorcycle, but my parents never thought it was safe. After the Army, I bought a Kawasaki KZ 1000 which was my baby at the time, until I got hit by a drunk driver. I then had a Harley-Davidson 1200, which is also a sweet ride. As I got older, it became less important, but I do remember those long rides and hikes, and sometimes I miss that open road. Winter Blessings, My Friend, Daniel
