Barred Sky
In the pall of cigarette
smoke
he cursed everyone
as he spoke.
Frightened guests and touchy
gamblers
called the cops after
the bouncers.
Handcuffed, he peered out
the window,
sirens wail, tires screeching
to go.
Through one swollen,
unseeing eye,
watched the night sceneries
flash by.
Now sober fingers
of sunbeam
slowly limn his morning
daydream.
But the moisture in his eyes
mars
his view of the sky through
jail bars!
