Ballet In the Autumn Sky

I think that I shall never see, A scene that is more gratifying to me, Than a flight of geese wafting on gossamer wings, And the sense of peace and calm to me that it brings! Fleeting low overhead, their dulcet honks I hear; The delicate whoosh of air 'neath their wings is pleasing to my ear! They form a perfect V as they fly in geometric formation, As the Master Compass guides them to their final destination! I know not from whence they come or whither they go, But I've heard they fly to southern climes to escape the arctic snow. Autumn is my favorite of all the ever-changing seasons, And viewing this autumn sky ballet is one of the many reasons! Robert L. Hinshaw, CMSgt, USAF, Retired
