Away All Anchors
Will you notice inside?
There’s a pain you can’t hide
Will you feel used and broken?
In your purse are there tokens?
For the cost of a ticket to ride
Do you think you’ll stay pretty?
Will you be quite as witty?
Let me tell you old friend;
Quitters don’t win;
And where you might go is a pity.
Down on that corner;
I’ve seen your new owner.
Do you work like a team?
Do you call yourselves clean?
And at night you become his hot moaner?
Two years from now;
You’ll have nothing somehow.
But still in the show;
Because that’s all you know;
You’re an act in a circus, so bow
I hope somehow I’m wrong;
But I will be gone.
You can think what you will;
But I’ve lost the thrill;
So I bid you adieu and so-long.
