Awake
To sleep would be bliss and to rest divine
Wishing for a simpler time
A time when slumber did not evade
And dreams, my fears did not invade
Incessant ringing in my ears
A grim reminder of wasted years
Moments missed for unsaid things
Repeated thoughts does each night bring.
Sleep won’t come, the sandman is missing
The eyes try to close and find no blessing
Each time they do, appears the same vision
The mess I created by indecision
Questioning my actions time and again
Thinking about what could have been
How much longer can this pain last?
When will it end, when will it pass?
The mind cant take too much more
Of restless feet pacing floor.
Thumping! Pounding! Drowning!!!
Forever screams are sounding!!
Strangling pillow, punching air
Yelling, crying, pulling hair!!
Dawn’s a coming; nights passed by
Still no rest for weary eye
Dark orbits show my nightly hell
Days like zombie but who can tell?
Will push through just one more day
And for insomnia’s release I pray
