Autumns Atonement

Listen to poem:
Whispers fall in the vacuum of thoughts As the leaves slowly fall to their demise Hibernal hearts frozen within their knots The winds of change cascading in their cries Temperate seasons bring the equinox My solstice soul sheds liquescent layers Deciduous trees cover ravaged rocks The monolithic moon absorbing prayers Sequential storms strumming within the mist Harvests bring hunger of love in the cold Salivating snow marches with a fist As September stumbles with a blindfold The fresh air of fall cleanses the moment In the cycle of autumn’s atonement. Your reply to John H's comment below, illuminated your thoughts so well, WW. I tend to see the sad side first too! ( And I'll be the first to admit that life's constant sadness has kept me a bit in the "shadow side" too. Reality bites. Often. And they aren't " love nibbles.." Lol. Also an artist, poet, 11/12 years in classical piano/guitar- never went far in music - but have an intense interest in a few genres. Autumn is my birth season - love the way summer disappears in a blaze of glory! (Hugs

Thank you for the win, my friend...In my poetic world, Solstice Soul is when on the longest day of the year you endure the loss of love more...and on the shortest day, you miss it...liquescent layers are the depths of tears that are shed...what can I say, I'm an artist, poet, musician...we'er all screwed up a bit lol...I tend to see the sad side first...and mainly because I experienced the sad side lol...:o)

You paint the images of fall so well, WW! And I appreciate your mention of the "temperate seasons." Fall and spring often do seem much gentler than winter and summer. Also love the reference to fall's fresh air cleansing the atmosphere. Awesome poetry, my friend. Sonnets and limericks are my favorite forms and this one should do very well in John's contest! Best for success, Carolyn

Winged Warrior, I cannot fathom which I love more - the poem or the reader's voice as she reads the poem! Good gravy, this is wonderful! Both are wonderful!
