Autumn Whisperer
Who whispers to the western wind to chill?
and bids the leaves to transform thus to die.
For soon the beat of summer's heart will still,
as flocks of birds seek warmer weathered sky.
Who whispers to the intense sunlight's rays?
to calm its daily dominance of heat
and yield to nights of cool and briefer days,
as Autumn races Summer to defeat.
Who tells the wounded heart the hearth will heal?
with embers' glow of beauty yet to see.
Assuring that the Autumn crop will yield -
a harvest red and gold at time's decree.
Who whispers to the seasons, "You must change?"
This Universe of God forever reigns.
