Autumn Falls Like Lovers Do

the morning fog
is rising
like the fires
we lit so long ago

in the wake of memories
i am more vibrant
than the blush of skies
and autumn's trees
this september morning

i watch a flame's dance
through amber leaves
as they tumble downward

the trees stripping layers
much like lovers
when desire burns

i can almost see you
rising like shadows
beneath the break of sun

i can hear the fades of sighs
as winded breaths
fall out of tempo

i taste you in the mist
as it falls from my own eyes
grounded with the leaves
of autumn's call

The fall holds much beauty but it signals the end of the joys of summer. You have beautifully mixed the changing of the seasons with the memory of past love. I enjoyed the imagery and feel of this verse. Hugs, John

Thank you John....i feel the fall is summer's serenade, everything becomes brighter before it dies and becomes bare and dull...colorless.... :) hugs

Wow, love sure does seem to be floating softly in the autumn air. What a mesmerizing scene you have penned as the season slowly approaches. Love and desire are definitely felt in this beauty. This deserves a "sigh".

Autumn stirs my pen with its beauty and drab towards the end so it often takes my muse in both directions ... some romantic writes some sad writes. Hugs

Thank you John, the original was better but as i went to copy it from another program it vanished on me, i have a touch screen desktop, the slightest wag from a dogs tail or speck of dust can close my programs out on me...lesson learned :) hugs
