Autumn Days
The aged days of falling leaves are here
Moving towards winter, of my demise
Resting peacefully I contain my fear
Know I'm closer to the day death will rise
Searching time remembering yesterdays
Still awaiting new hours of tomorrow
I'll harvest richness from the longest days
And dispense of all the old sorrows
Knowing what's been and the effort sustained
From desires to failures and all between
I'll toast to memory and all it contains
And cheer long for the times love intervened
I'll await winter, not fear its dark cold
I tasted life and have slowly grown old
