Dappled sunlight through tree branches
Casting rays upon those colored leaves
Brushstrokes of angular fall beauty
As this lovely fall afternoon turns into eve
In this countryside where golden dry leaves whirl
Old love shivers in twilight with an early moon
Their secrets shared in soft tender glances
As the north wind blows through pines’ amber display
Pine's sighs sing in appreciation
For what is true and radiant
Lovers find joy in the simple gifts and pleasures
While holding hands that fit together like a glove
Hearts entwined as one, among many lovers
While red, yellow, russet and burgundy play
Beneath the cobalt sky where diamonds sparkle
Grasping shadows of the colorful day
The breeze sings a special ode
To time’s change, as summer slips slowly away
