Autumn Chill

Suddenly, the nights grow colder harvest moon shadows cast haunting images across my steps and shoulders with fearful imagined figures limitless and the midnight walks once taken seek shelter after being stirred and shaken. Leaves fall floating and softly windblown beneath twinkling stars and planets bright with cricket chirp fine-tuned and honed as creatures unseen walk the night with pumpkin shells and piled leaves autumn chills the body aches in truths we believe. Let the summer take its rest all things return to life tasks having surpassed vacations guests we return to work and study masks warmed and seared by the summer sun we find playtime is done. Rake the leaves and pick the last flowers seasons change and time moves on quick sunrise and set lay now in shorter hours before we start the dark is thick and spring to summer falls to autumn chill with winter waiting to freeze and thrill.
