Autumn Chant

Autumn Chant

Grey autumn oaks chant sad airs
In the east of darkling day;
Dirge winds blow through barren boughs
Tuneless symphonies.

Well, my friend, you took a 'chants' and you won again. Double play of congrats around the horn, 5-4-3 to end the inning. Nothing better than October baseball!

Thank you baseball buddy! This is a fun form - a little less restrictive that traditional haiku - like the rule change. Will be glued to the set tonight for the opening game of the World Series :). Guess which team we are rooting for? :>

Thank you so much Jan for your wonderful compliment and your congratulatory note. I feel this sadness after we have harvested our apple trees and they look so bare. But, I always remember they are hibernating for spring! Sending back bushels of harvest hugs!

Thank you Anne-Lise! There is a "tuneless" side to autumn as it stretches into winter. So glad you have been able to get outside into the fresh and crisp air of autumn! sending hugs back.

Thank you Andrea! It is a fun form - a little expansion on the haiku with a few added syllables. So happy that you loved it. Thant means a lot! The Wasatch must be beautiful especially after your first snow! Sending you October blessings my friend!

There is a melancholy about fall, your 'tuneless symphonies' capture that so eloquently, best wishes in the contest, Sam!

Thank you Michelle. There is a sadness about fall as the warm weather leaves and the chill sets in. I guess the fall color is a consolation prize that helps us transition to the hibernation, and hope, in winter. From the forecast looks like the October rains will be starting. Sending you positive thoughts and hugs my friend.

It really is sad to see the leaves stripped from the trees' "barren boughs." Thank goodness spring always arrives in sweet pastel hues. When I lived up north, winters seemed to last forever, Sam. Now it's the summer that seems endless. This is a beautiful dodoitsu. Surely a winner, my friend. Hugs, Carolyn

Thank you so much my friend. I agree. Sometimes winter just doesn't want to leave and this summer, for us, just lingers! Hoping for rain next weekend. I enjoyed working with this form. Hope you and your family are doing well. Blessings Carolyn. Returning your hugs with an elbow bump!
