I awake to find you once again Setting fire to the leaves Multi-colored flames in rain I watch them falling from the trees To fly upon an ever-changing breeze You scorch the valleys and the hills And turn their green to gold And paint yourself upon the rills That run from times of old On water black as coal I watch in awe, before my eyes The magic you unfold Forgetting for a moment, Summer died As you steel my heart and soul With the vision that these old eyes now behold

Lovely piece of rhyming poetry. If this had been written by say Blake for example it would, by now, have been set to music...it should make a fine hymn I feel; puts me in mind of Blake's Jerusalem. Best regards Elaine! :) john

This is an excellent post and a wonderful poem, my dear sister of God's inspirational grace, Elaine. I love the flow of the words and the impact of the message regarding autumn. The descriptive excellence is lovely and sends terrific images. I love the multi-colored line a lot. It truly represents autumn.
