Athenian Goddess Verses 7 , 8

Athenian Goddess Verses 7 & 8 Mendacious eyes that seduce, And tempt a man to slay his soul, Unspoken tongue, close your eyes And listen to what he knows, That flowing curls of raven black And eyes of smouldering red, Of lips that would tempt deity And skin of golden brown, That beauty is love that dwells within, That breathes within the soul. Starved the soul of God’s intent, As Beauty bends the will of man, And fires the flame breathes ill content , and deflects the love From Heaven’s scent. The heart betrayed for Beauty’s whim, Salt water skin on naked flesh, And brittle breaks inflamed, wronged love, To cry out your name, a pain unasked, To fall for beauty dressed as love, As beauty most shallow lives in death.
