At The Cemetery

The monument was stone --
actually marble, somewhat
more affluent. The writing
was calligraphy, carefully
chiseled by a fine hand.
The occupant was dead -- All the same….

No matter, we lie in a mausoleum or a marbled vault or just under a heap of mud, as long as the occupant is dead, there is no difference. The irony of the poem makes it so special.

Or cremated for that matter. The spirit is gone, hopefully in heaven with loved ones. Have a great writing day my friend.

That last line really chilled me. Powerful penning, Joe. I've got goosebumps now.

Where the dead lie, or rise as smoke seems to really matter more to the leaving than the dead. Personally, I don't care. I think tombs are places where the living reside. Death by Proxy.

Truth, we can’t make it better, but somehow more comforting..real, the calligraphic stone, unreal the death of a loved one. 😢

If they dwell fondly in our minds and hearts, so will God know them and love them. Thank you, Kim.

Joe, this poem paints a vivid picture of the solemnity and grandeur often found in cemeteries. The use of descriptive language, like "marble" and "calligraphy," effectively conveys a sense of respect and reverence. But in the end we all leave our wealth behind.
