At Least

Our hearts were a veritable slow dance

And I didn’t have to put my baby
In the corner

Our retinas
became diamond forged binds
In serenity’s lock

Dipping
Your tear ducts within our wishing wells

Never
Running
Dry

Our flesh
Bringing lukewarm elasticity
To gentle boil

Every graceful thrust
Mimicking fireplace embers
Under cabin’s winter moon

Until my deep sigh
Embedded paragraphs
Within “Dear John” parchment

…

At least

Trinity’s hourglass
Permitted me to sing I love you choruses

Before your hearts’ phone line
Disconnected

…

"Until... " "At least... " Depicts some haunted gratitude though the end is clearly in sight. Emotionally charging, a heartfelt piece. As usual with you... A phenomenal talent! Hugs

I really like how you put words together. They fit, but almost don't. Romantic & steamy and sad. My favorite lines are "Bringing lukewarm elasticity/To gentle boil" Good stuff... Jack

Many of your poems could be songs to be sung on a rainy night, soft guitar, weeping windows, a dark street light quivering in the wind. This is one.....giving the reader a sense of loneliness, heartbreak, and deep emotion of a love gone wrong. Do you play music, Drake.??....you should put this to chords of a mellow, somber melody...I would cry buckets!!

You have made me smile so wide. I dabble in piano here & there. I can rock a guitar like nobody's business...in Rock Band. lol I never thought to put this to a song. Maybe I could...??? Thank you so so so much, Carrie.
