Asleep In the Storm

ASLEEP IN THE STORM Winds were howling fiercely, damage everywhere, I was concerned greatly, feeling some despair. I tried once to call her, no one did reply, Now I really wondered what would meet my eye. Would my home be damaged? Would she be okay? I just had to leave then and go back that way. So I left the church house, driving ever slow, Feeling the wind blow me as there I did go. I saw trees and branches all along the way, Places with no power, but I tried to pray. “Please, God, keep me safe here, let all be all right, Let there be no damage, let my home have light.” As I turned the corner, there I did surmise Nothing had been damaged, I was so surprised. Lights were shining brightly, even though debris Littered all my yard there, it was plain to see. I went in the house then, her door still was closed, She was sleeping soundly, in such sweet repose. She slept right on through it, kept in God’s sweet care, And the Lord had answered my weak, fervent prayer. How it did remind me of a storm one day When His twelve disciples were caught in the fray. Winds were howling fiercely, waves were crashing round, Yet the Lord was sleeping in the boat so sound. Again I learned a lesson, there that stormy night, When God is controlling, everything’s all right. Even if the damage were severe and great, He could bring me through it, no matter what the fate. Thank God, though, for protection, I know I was blessed, Again I heard His message, “In Me you can rest.”
