As this river gives, not giving a damn Emptying out the lake of hate, I am This ecosystem dies, but was it alive? Just surviving on dreams that I kept inside Confusion fills me, deep as this hole The sinkhole depths mirror my soul No reflections to see, nothing left to find Just hollowing cries, and thoughts unkind Saturated tears, muddled in fears A storm in my mind, destruction’s near Agonize, agonize—final goodbyes All the sorrow that terrorized Rock a bye baby, by the levee’s side When the wind blows, the waters rise Eutrophication clouds the stream Will I sink or awake from this dream? So, cry baby, cry Once was a diamond spring Still Paired wings dance in the sky But do the mockingbirds still sing will I sink or say Good bye? As this river gives, I’m done giving a damn Let it flood every thought, erase who I am No more shadows that linger, no chains to hold I’m breaking free from the weight of the old First scatter and shatter, before it can crystallize From darkness below to rainbow skies As this river gives, I’m done giving a damn I’m done giving a damn Self-loathing and doubts fade like dust Sinking away in the current’s rush All of the defenses, the fences and walls The game I played, where blame falls Moments of absence, silence deep Nothing to lose, no secrets to keep In the hollowing waves, I’m washed clean From everything dark, all that I’ve been Tears saturate, but fears disappear In the chaos of the river, it all clears Agonize, agonize—the last of the lies The pain’s final echoes as it dies Rock a bye baby, by the levee’s side When the wind blows, the waters rise Eutrophication clouds the stream Will I sink or awake from this dream? So, cry baby, cry Once was a diamond spring Still Paired wings dance in the sky But do the mockingbirds still sing will I sink or say Good bye? As this river gives, I’m done giving a damn Let it swallow the past, let go who I am No more drowning in sorrow, no more disguise In the floods embraced, my soul materialized Scatter and shatter, I’m free from the weight In the river’s depth, I recreate As this river gives, I’m done giving a damn I’m done giving a damn Torn down to nothing, but still I stand Reborn in the flow of a fearless land No more echoes of what used to be In the currents, I find clarity Rock a bye baby, by the levee’s side When the wind blows, the waters rise Eutrophication clouds the stream Will i sink or awake from this dream? So, cry baby, cry Once was a diamond spring Still Paired wings dance in the sky. But do the mockingbirds still sing will I sink or say Good bye? As this river gives, I’m done giving a damn All that I was washed away with the sand The darkness fades in rainbow light What’s left of me takes flight Scatter and shatter, let the pieces fall In this river’s path, I lose it all As this river gives, I’m done giving a damn I’m done giving a damn So, cry baby, cry Once was a diamond spring Still Paired wings dance in the sky But do the mockingbirds still sing will I sink or say Good bye?
