As If It Were Heaven

I met them on the street where they walked a sleazy dog. I told them "Have a good night" as though it were heaven. And this seemed odd. A lady rushed the elevator of which I held ready. It was "My pleasure" I said, as though it were heaven. And this seemed odd. As one woman pushed her shopping cart, I helped her along. I said "Anytime", as if it were heaven. And this seemed odd. As the many years have passed; so the good deeds too. I wonder where heaven went, as if it were heaven... and this seemed odd... as if it were heaven too.

Some think heaven is on earth. If so, kind deeds will certainly create the right atmosphere.
