As I Reflect
‘Tis now as I reflect this autumn morn
so deep in thought of life’s dulcet refrain
whose rhythm ever changes without warn;
I query… have I always lived my life in vain?
I’ve touched the tender flowers of the spring,
and wetted longing lips with summer wine;
my lips have kissed and made the bluebird sing,
but wonder… have I always lived my life benign?
Have I been chasing rainbows all along
while living life based on my foolish dreams?
Just like the lyrics of a country song,
my life is built on shifting sand… or so it seems.
But what if I could live my life anew?
…I think perhaps the same things I would do.
