Artificial

A super computer
Is coming for my lines
It thinks faster than me
By several thousand times

First it was chess
I thought it my domain
I can’t compete now
It’s driving me insane

It’s better and better
Not awkward at all
Feed in an idea
Or Tale rather tall

No spelling mistakes
Grammar precise
The jokes on me
AI ain’t very nice

It can write copy
Or a hit song
Damn it’s so good
I want to sing along

But in the end
It’s no good you see
Writing what I write
Brings joy to me

Artificial Intelligence
No heart or a brain
I prefer human
Forget the mainframe

Inspired by a conversation on Poetry Soup about AI. Mystic Rose started the conversation.

The playful tone and relatable frustrations resonate deeply, reminding us of the irreplaceable joy found in authentic human expression. It's a refreshing take on a timely topic. Thank you for sharing this thoughtful piece!

Very well expressed many of us here despise AI. What joy do the poets using it get from that,? It defies logic

I don’t get it either.

I agree with you, and its sad that AI is winning and as contest sponsors what we can do is just learn how an ai poem sounds like as they usually sound similar altho now its getting a bit challenging to recognize, however i dont use ai checkers to check if one uses ai cus its easy to spot, i prefer human poetry and not ai generated lies. You are one of those precious ones who uses their mind and soul to write and im honored to read your word weavings. Sending you light always

I much prefer human poetry, as for some humans, I wonder at times where are their hearts and brains! LOL

Thanks for weighing in. I imagine the allure of AI is tempting to certain individuals.

Richard, thank you for writing this from one true poet to another and for all poets with heart and soul. Who refuse to use a cold unfeeling robot to write their poetry, but let their words drip like blood from their pens. The poets of old would be horrified at the use of fake poems and AI. I want to weep at the destruction of the written word, well done Richard and a FAV

Love this. My sentiments exactly. How can we ever win? Is this the end of creativity? Thanks, Richard, for your lovely comments on my poem turned to song. I couldn't reply to everyone. End of summer session. I'll be more active soon.

lol, I prefer to read what came straight from your heart and mind Richard, bots are good to pack your groceries and to serve you tea in China lol, but I rather have someone with skin on to write me a lovely poem, thanks for this Richard, glad we are human, wouldn't give that privilege away for all the tea in Younkers Tea House. :)

the heart and soul of poetry come from a real man's spirit...Ai is battery operated; it cannot feel human experiences, doesn't understand suffering, joy, love, it has no live organs, geez!... why do we pander to the weirdness of this bot? thanks rich for the inspiration...no to Ai !
