Arrogance Tells Us

Arrogance tells us we are always right, Arrogance tells us being in a hurry is an acceptable excuse, Arrogance tells us our needs are paramount. Arrogance tells us our children can do no wrong, Arrogance tells us right of way is to be always taken, Arrogance tells us we are more special than the guy next door. Arrogance tells us we deserve a bigger piece of the pie, Arrogance tell us money will buy us anything and anybody, Arrogance tells us it is ok to jump the que. Arrogance tells us we have nothing to apologize for, Arrogance tells us we were born to be served, Arrogance tells us others will follow what we say, not what we do.

I was an early childhood teacher for thirty years, and like all teaching it is now about the paperwork and watching your back and less about the children. All the smart teachers do relieving work. And I used to say to students look to relieve for someone on maternity leave as if the person comes back you can come away with a good reference and if they do not come back you can choose to leave or stay. I did mostly relieving which gave me more freedom and time with children and also I found I could speak my mind more in interest of children.

You have an open mind in a rollercoaster-world. I don't want to look at it as complicated but, it is what the world shows in different negative traits of the subjects governing the world. Your message in this poem is revealing. I like your poem about "AI" too! Cliff

Thank you cliff. I was an early childhood teacher for thirty years and that experience leads me to believe that whatever strategy works/appears to get us what we want then why change it. That is why I believe it is important to stand up to bullies before they get too set in their ways. Hope you are enjoying being in the soup. Best regards David in NZ

I had parents and teachers wo would not tolerate it and true friends who could tell me when I was being arrogant and take it on the chin when when I noticed it. Unfortunately my experience is not something many in today's world are subject to, hence this poem, which hopefully will make a difference for 1 parent or one teacher or 1 true friend but sports coaches who decide who is on the team may be the only ones left who can help stop the rot. Apart from poets of course ha ha. David still in NZ
