Are Poets Only Visiting

Perhaps poets are visitors from a distant 
planet, finding ours too harsh to hear
the heartbeat of a beautiful phrase. Or,
could they be nature's attempt to save us?

It's from a longer poem I wrote in 2020 titled What is a Poet.The long poem has gotten many views, but thank you for your nice comments. And I agree: many good poets go hardly noticed. I'm constantly amazed at the beauty penned by poets, and sorry for those who don't try to grasp their meanings.
