April Showers

April showers are welcomed
when windy March escapes the scene,
and melted snow left in the soil
evaporates in April sun.
Trees lift their eager, drouthy limbs,
waiting for water to awake
and unwind their curled up buds-
quenching thirst, they quickly drink.
April showers give new flowers
sustenance to help them grow;
hydrated soil with nutrients
seep into their waiting cells.
Before our eyes- blooms unfold-
such lovely sights, as showers fall
from the heavens- blessing them-
baptizing April's newborn joys.
