Approaching Anniversary of Losing My Wife

Three long years since my love has gone away And I have settled into a life of lonely self-ease, Seeing no regrets or sorrows I need to appease Still sometimes I think I live in perpetual disarray. If morning should portend a dark and gloomy day My personal freedom ensued from a dread disease That took my loved one away like a chilly breeze, Leaving me alone and bewildered in fogs of gray. So, this quandary lingers in my oft-grieving mind How to move my life into exciting new adventures Without feeling guilty that my love is left behind, That she is no longer able to grace my ventures Which will not prevent me keeping her enshrined And honoring her among my cherished treasures.

Your poem is a beautiful tribute to your wife. My heart aches to think of your sadness. I believe our loved ones know of our love and tributes of them. I love to think of the 'cloud of witnesses' the Bible talks about. I find it a comfort to think of the precious departed cheering us on in the race that is set before us. God bless you Milton. I hope you have a blessed week ahead.

Everything you write seems to honor Deb. I know she reads them all from her heavenly seat.

I hope so. If she is, she's saying, "There he goes again!"

They say time heals all ... perhaps, but our hearts linger forever with memories of those we loved and love still. I'd like to believe they are still with us, watching over us, still loving us. How grateful to know that in our lives, there is/was always that someone. So relish the anniversary and remember that love that is.

I'm fine, Tom. I just experience these bouts of melancholia this time of the year, and I think with good reason. I truly appreciate your concern and your friendship.

Milt, I'm sure she knew she was a cherished treasure to you. You still hold her on that pedestal. I'm saddened by your gloom of missing her, but perhaps writing about her will help to ease your emotional pain, even if just a bit. Hugs

Thanks so much, Jenna. I go through this as the time of her death nears. I have actually dealt with the grief very well, considering since she died, I have also lost a sister and two nephews. When you are older, it makes you wonder why they go and you are left behind. Jenna, I wrote you a Soup Mail. I do not recall hearing from you while you were in Florida, so I need to go back and check. If I did get your note, I apologize for the oversight because I do try to answer all communications. Thanks for the Hugs. I can use them!!!! Hey, have a wonderful week, friend.
