American Anti-Poetry
Conversation With A Glass Eye
“maybe if you’d listen to me instead of sleeping
the brain bullets might stop flying by like bad bugs
maybe we might be friends again as with the rain
it comes as the coldness comes from desert skies
then all can drink in the reservoirs of cool mercies
do you see my face can you acknowledge my stares
it thinks there are no sad days just the grind of time
the incessant bending of the wheel and the jack pin
its long arms extending to the closed eyes of night
maybe we can make love now while there is still time
maybe it doesn’t matter if death waits at the depot
watch out more brain bullets flying by like bad bugs”
