And what of Poetry

And what of poetry
Those muffled lies
Exposing truth
Hyphenated hucksters
Working the crowd
Barrel drummers
Echoing a distant rhythm
Hop-scotch rhymes
Keeping time
A rat-a-tat
Of Rappers rants

And what of words
Rekindled, reignited
Scorching sentences
Tortured by line breaks
Altering the meaning
Of repetitive rhetoric
Exploring the caverns
Of cryptic creativity

And what of poets
Wishfully wandering
A whitewashed wasteland
Searching the souls
Of passersby
Glassy-eyed warriors
In search of a cause
Blind believers
Sharing insight
Into a silent wind

' Keeping time, hop-scotch rhymes echoing a distant rhythm. ' That's poetry ! ! The way a poet shares ' insight into a silent wind. ' You are very creative with your thoughts, John. Congratulations on Poem of the Day. My best to you. Hugs, Brandy

...perspective often stumbling about in a hinterland of ambiguity and obscurity. It doesn't demand consensus; it craves human connection and an OPEN mind. :) Congratulations John, a most beatnik vibe! (clicking fingers)

Hello John, Congrats!! for me this one kinda lingers. It stirs something deep, like a half-forgotten melody suddenly recalled. It almost feels like a knowing nod to those of us lost in the ink. Well deserved! Winter Blessings, My Friend, Daniel

Great use of just the right amount of alliteration, John. A whitewashed wasteland makes an excellent blank page for poets or a primed canvas for artists. Congrats for your talent being recognized today.
