a midsummer’s day
shares hope aglow
vigor shines beneath
soft hues of yellow
willows stroke the breeze
with sweet cherry trees
florets peek hello
vivid hummingbirds
whisper sharp tunes
without needed words
it gently consumes
the pink lily blooms
at Karen's grave site
it’s only polite
diamonds shine bright
pretty toes bask in
soft sands on the beach
sea shells deliver
opaque pearls in reach
the bald eagles teach
their young to catch prey
on a hot June day
lil' kids in their pools
with so many rules
solstice of summer
loves flowing streams
and bright sun beams
blue jays flutter
the moon adores night
oh, I wish I may
oh, I wish I might
grant me sweet dreams
with sights of delight
after the dusk clears
morning dew appears
white roses flourish
I pluck them for you
with soil residue
oh, I pray you stay
this midsummer’s day
