Inside an inkwell, lives a fairy tale A classic, filled with love and misery Where," Once upon a time" has long set sail And "happy ever after's" yet to be It's plot, a knight, once schooled in chivalry His quest for love, the dragons he has slain From Crusades 'round the world to frippery The jousts with Father Time who drew disdain Yet deep inside is where brave knight remains A lifetime of adventures, good and bad The love he searches for, still unobtained Still finding peace, his "grail" this Gallahad Perhaps, I'll buy a quill one of these days Release Sir Knight and legends of his ways by Daniel Turner Spenserian sonnet abab bcbc cdcd ee

I could be upset with you for such deep, Daniel contents, but your poem presented so cussing words beautifully that my upset is preoccupied enjoying the awe in this poem. Fairy Tale, enchanting first two lines captured my little girl and quick turned her adult with sadness so irresistibly penned. A kicker. (parts of me now want to argue - I'm stifling them) GREAT poem, any other day and I may have cried. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

I hope you find that quill, Danny, because you are certainly a gallant knight, and I see you as that unsung hero I've heard about.

Thank you, Andrea. Remember when I first started writing sonnets and you helped me learn to write in meter. Well now it seems like everything I write has to be in meter. It is stuck in my head! Had it not been for Lin and you I would not be the sonneteer you say I am.

Hello Danny, I can see that you are still churning out the sonnets, and doing them oh so well -- as usual!! I really enjoyed reading this one. The lead-off with "Inside an inkwell . . . " is quiet excellent. And the verbal play of your words and verses in this Spenserian format is perfect. It was a true joy to read this one my friend!! Cheers and Best, Gary
