An Uncertain Future

Every day I walk to work, I tremble with fear, No knowing if this morning will be my last. I’m not certain I will ever escape from here, And move to a place that won’t judge me for my past. I can’t say that I’m very proud of what I’ve done, But it’s only because of my will to survive. My childhood was full of violence, not fun. The first time I killed someone, I was only five. When you live in a country that has only war, Being a child is an impossible thing. Whether or not you know what you are fighting for, You just pray for peace and the quiet it will bring.
