An Early Addiction

From the age of thirteen I have been writing poetry, Off and on, when I remembered I had not written one In a while, my relatives and friends were impressed notably Enjoyed writing poems, gradually my passion had almost won! I wrote and wrote over the years, but what I wanted and needed Was a group where we could exchange comments and communicate, A good friend of mine said join a website now, finally conceded, And here I am with poetry soup, I am addicted, but I feel great! So my advice to you if you have poems in some corner in your home, Dust off the cobwebs and join this amazing poetry group, The greatest feeling under the sun, I now confess that none Other could satisfy me more than submitting poems to Poetry soup! Jennifer, I have been trying to convince my nephew Tony to post some of his poetry here. He writes so many and gets no feedback outside the family. Comments from other poets help us grow! I'm so glad you found your way here so we can enjoy reading your wonderful poetry! Blessings for the new year, my friend. Love, carolyn

I'm glad you are on here, Jennifer. Your poems are amazing. I was first on here many years ago and then left. My husband encouraged me to come back. I'm glad I did or I probably would have never met you and other wonderful people if I hadn't. Hope you have great New Year :)

Jenn, sorry you missed the cutoff for the contest, but this is a winner in my book! The love you have for writing poetry is so evident here, as well as your love for the community of our shared interest. This is a potd in my estimation, a fave for me, and a lovely tribute to the people at Poetry Soup who support and encourage. Blessings and hugs, dear friend ~ John

That's one healthy addiction which you are lucky to have, Jenny! Poetry Soup might have its little faults, but on the whole it's a haven for many. Sharing the magic of words and making new friends are two main benefits. ~ Warm regards & hugs, my friend....and Happy New Year!! // paul

Hi Jennifer, I started to write poetry at the age of fourteen, like you I had a long pause and started to write in later life. My late father-in-law was a great poet and he rekindled the interest in me. When he started to lose his sight he could no longer write poetry to the wife, I did it for him and he loved my poems, and so my journey into poetry began. Hugs, Belle

Hi Peter, my husband and I run a small Medical Personnel Consultancy, and during the first lockdown we let two staff members go but kept a third and she is working from home as we are. Sometimes I neglect it, but then move over to Pro to Personnel Consultants and that means my poetry suffers! Glad you enjoyed my poem and that I made your day, that happens to me also when a friend is quiet for a while. A wonderful 2021 to you Peter my friend. Jennifer.

How is your Mom Jan, I often think of you and the problems with some of your family, but as I mentioned it is too far gone for us to repair the relationship, but besides you and I, it seems almost every family has some problem. Be blessed my dear Jan, I don't know you from near, but your poems whisper you are a kind, gentle person, but nevertheless, neither of us will keep quiet when there is ..I. going on! Blessing and Hugs and best wishes for 2021. Jennifer.

I'm sure too - we have made some life long friends, but still can't get over Winged Warrior passing, he was such an integral part of our group, and now Silent One seems to be taking a break for a while. I hate seeing our good friends leaving this site. Love and blessings my friend and a happy, wonderful 2021 for you and yours. Jennifer.
