Amos and Me
We were relaxing on the bed, Amos and me.
He is my He-cat, older, set in his ways you see.
I have to calm down a bit, or he holds me down.
Sometimes I am too bouncy, he gives me a frown.
Today it is raining, we are up on Mom’s bed.
I am leaned over his side. Man, he is well fed!
He is reading a comic book about Tom and Jerry.
I am asking lots of questions. He calls me Barry.
I keep telling him I’m a girl cat, but he does not care.
He kind of thinks I am kind of up in his hair.
But on rainy days like this, we are contented, we two.
We may even make a little bit of fish market stew.
I am his pet cat, and he is my He-man elder, and I love him ever so.
He pretends I am a nuisance, but I know it is just a clever act.
Because when I am not around, he is begging to know
Where I am, how long I’ll be and when I’m coming back.
