American Pie

It’s CLEVER to create lines with multiple meanings, to pose as the paper boy bringing us bad news, even to make veiled comments about suicide (if only that levee weren’t dry). It’s CREATIVE to blend music icons, tragedy, death, “dirges in the dark,” jadedness, changing times, waning faith, Manson, and even “Satan laughing with delight,” since I suspect he laughs more now than he did then! It’s APPEALING to be regaled by fast and slow rhythms—in the same song: let’s boogie; let’s ponder. It’s UNFORGIVABLE to make light of Christ’s crown of thorns and to blaspheme the Trinity. True--YES! Blasphemy--YES! Please listen again to the lines that refer to the members of the Trinity. I've read commentaries about the song--Buddy Holly, etc. Those points don't relate to his comments about the Trinity. Thanks for the placement! Janice
