Am I Bad

This poem is not autobiographical! My mother was kind, loving, sacrificial, attentive, and encouraging.
Am I a good or bad boy?
Mostly bad, I think
'cause Mommy hardly ever says I'm good.
This morning Mommy's smiling!
Does she think I'm good?
It's hard to tell, and I get so confused!
Some mornings Mommy's frowning.
Is it 'cause I'm bad?
She yells at me and sends me to my room.
Some days she doesn't feed me.
I'm hungry and so sad.
She doesn't seem to hear me when I cry.
Some mornings Mommy's staring,
just walking round and round
and talking to herself like I'm not there.
The next time Mommy's like this,
I know just what I'll do.
I'll ask a lot of questions really loud.
I'll talk until she answers.
What will my mommy do,
just send me to my room for being bad?
