Always Below Potential
Always Below Potential!
I've chosen a life that's below my potential,
Suspect that is true of us all,
An attempt to control other people's perception,
This weight feels much worse than ‘Man’s Fall.'
I tried hard, in fact, to blend in more with others,
But people could see through my ruse.
I perhaps was worst enemy, not that authentic,
Deceiving though not to abuse.
My need for acceptance embraced gift from father,
Not once to my recall showed pride
In a son who could sail through most problems unruffled,
In spite of the doubts deep inside.
Though judgment from others long past has disturbed me
This fact now has mellowed with time,
Gift of sharing of feelings now more of my nature,
It helps some get off on my rhyme.
It’s quite a relief too, what other’s get, God might,
While friends 'grok' me, God feels my soul,
Though ‘good works’ only come from a heart (God resides in,)
His ‘Grace’ means you get through life whole!
