Along the Way
Life's journeys lead us to many different places.
With that, we cross paths with many faces.
Some we decide are worth getting to know.
Others we choose to let go.
Friends have a way of easing into your heart,
we hope the friendship doesn't break it apart.
If we are fortunate our friendships will last.
And through the years we create a shared past.
But events dealt to us by fate,
can turn friends love to hate.
It leaves us with so much grief,
that nothing seems to bring any relief.
We try to protect ourselves and hide from the pain,
believing we could never go through it again.
But it is so hard to go on alone,
and finding you are totally on your own.
We try again to ease our way in,
looking for a safe place to begin.
That place is deep within us all,
our need for companionship comes to call.
Once again we decide to go,
out there to plant a seed, and hope friendship will grow.
A friendship that will survive
through all that comes in our unsure lives.
So at the end of the day we can smile,
this one is special, it has been worthwhile.
