All In a Day For Many
A stay-at-home young mom with three stair-steps
was up at six to see her husband off
each day. She served him breakfast, then made sure
his tie was straight, and gave a good-bye kiss.
She patiently and lovingly took care
of each child, paying close attention to
specific needs and wants while teaching all
what’s right, what’s wrong, and how they must behave.
When all three were in school, she went to work
outside the home, but each day she would leave
at three o’clock to pick the children up
from school. Priorities remained the same.
When she was forty-five and all the kids
were grown and on their own, new challenges
arose. Her parents and her husband’s mom
were bowing down to age, in need of care.
She split her time three ways and cared for those
in all three homes—and always with a smile.
Their “godsend,” their “kind angel” grew bone-tired,
but love remained her motivating force.
The candle burning at both ends still glowed
in spite of her declining health, but not
so brightly as when she was forty-five.
Her prayers for strength were answered day by day.
