Alimony - Broke For Nothing
defeated
he sat in the car
one hand on the steering wheel
phone in the other
checkbook
on the seat
empty
now what
he hung his head for a moment
of peace
in his driveway
struggling to find meaning
in alimony
that bled him dry
and left him nothing
there was not justice
just lawyers on the take
and he trusted
trusted the system
so here he was now
broke for nothing
no reprieve
no hope
no appeal
just a selfish woman
whos idea of work
was cashing his check.
he pushed toxic thoughts of "how could I have gotton mixed up in this"
away
and gathered his papers
to go inside
broke for nothing no hope of reprieve
live day to day
work as long as you can
to stay alive.
- Dedicated to JRJ - you are not the only one living this nightmare.
