Algorithm

The pattern emerges I speak not it's name A star not quite visible A flickering flame A dance that unlocks That part of my brain Then I know that there's something The other side of our screen I look out without seeing But I know what I mean You have to have felt it The algorithm innate It's also within A good chat with a mate It's the 'ahh' we all utter The pitter patter of rain Then down comes a shutter And it's just gone again We cannot recall What exactly occured It's the be all and end all Being seen and being heard Pausing, trying to think of the perfect next line It's knowing there's always a hand holding mine

Confused or confusing, algorithms were previously called formulas, I believe. Poem has a happy ending. Thanks for lovely thoughts and melodious rhyme.

WOW....a positive spin on the dreaded "algorithm" theory....

But John, did I influence the algorithm by commenting on your poetry? If I just floated through the universe without engagement, would I still be seen? (Also, thank you :) )

Dilly Dally, Your poem is like a captivating murmur hinting at a profound connection we can't quite grasp. The "dance that unlocks" and the "ahh" of understanding is quite reflecting. It's the magic of connection, unseen but deeply felt, like a conversation with a close friend. The ending line is a powerful image of comfort and support, even in the vast unknown. Thought-provoking piece. - Blessings, Daniel

Thank you Daniel - I appreciate your comment which is very much in tune with my poem. There's so much where a second of reminisce almost unlocks a memory but never quite does. Perfect poetic fodder for mulling over :) thank you

Brilliant Dilly you plucked this one out of the universe and from within yourself, algorithms are everywhere not only behind the screen, a big debate still rages on amongst the illuminati, as to whether math was discovered or created by man, I believe it was always embedded in the fabric of spacetime, and we unlocked it, just as you unlock the inner algorithm inside you in this fascinating piece, be sure there is a metaphoric hand holding us all together, some just cannot see it, or indeed want to see it as you do! Super poem, cheers David

ET interference is always a big possibility Dilly, only downside is they are undetectable, so either have cloaking technology far superior to anything we have now, or they don’t exist at all, if I meet one (hey maybe I have) I’m going to check all my photos now, might be one sniggering in the background lol! You make me feel like I get an A* in winging it David :) I'm thrilled you get the poem as it sits in a space that can't really be explained. I do actually recall bits of perhaps a TV show or something I read about the possibility of aliens gifting knowledge to certain civilisations as the same kinds of insights occurred at the same times alongside paintings oh and maybe I'll just add detail for the fun of it - crop circles? I think it predates arable farming, scrub that last bit! Though I'm happy considering heaven, past lives, ghosts, parallel universes... It's seems more likely the whole lot is our interpretation of something we can't comprehend. Of course I wasn't thinking about that at the time of writing - just having fun considering algorithms before Instagram and TikTok claimed them :)
